AACE Metrix

An intensive non-residential treatment program for addiction

Support and Education to help people master a life without addiction

Why Work With Us?

At Ashcliffe Psychology, we're passionate about supporting people to overcome unhelpful thinking and unhealthy cognitive patterns or behaviours, which may be underlying their addiction.

AACE Metrix Program

Ashcliffe Psychology offers the AACE Metrix Program (formally the Matrix Program), an intensive, non-residential therapeutic learning program developed for individuals requiring structured support for substance addiction.

It is designed for those who need a higher level of care than standard counselling but cannot commit to a residential facility due to work, family, or other obligations.

The program utilises evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, psychoeducation sessions, family support and Schema Therapy, to assist individuals and their families in their recovery from addiction to substances such as methamphetamine, alcohol, cocaine, cannabis, and prescription medications.

Program Structure and Approach

The AACE Metrix Program is a comprehensive 48-week course delivered by accredited health professionals. It functions as an intermediate option between inpatient treatment and standard outpatient counselling, providing a structured and supportive pathway to recovery.

Participants attend group sessions that cover more than 100 key rehabilitation topics. The curriculum is designed to equip individuals with practical skills and strategies for maintaining an abstinence-based lifestyle. It focuses on behaviour and arousal management and includes education on the role of family and support people  as part of the recovery process..

ChemSex - Addiction Treatment Program

ChemSex is commonly known as the use of any combination of drugs, specifically but not limited to crystal methamphetamines, mephedrone (cathenones), and/or GBH/GBL for the purpose of enhancing sexual experiences.  Other substances that are commonly involved are Viagra, alcohol, ketamine, cocaine, and amyl/akyl nitrates.   This is particularly prevalent with men who have sex with men.

The ChemSex program, run by Ashcliffe Psychology's The Metrix Program, is to provide a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space for individuals who engage in ChemSex and have concerns about their ChemSex practices. The groups are facilitated by healthcare professionals such as psychologists, nurses and counsellors who have experience working with individuals with substance use and mental health concerns.

Individual Counselling

The AACE Metrix Individual Counselling service provides personalised, one-on-one support for individuals seeking help with alcohol and other drug use, as well as related mental health concerns.

These sessions offer a confidential and supportive environment where you can work closely with our experienced clinical team to explore the challenges you are facing and develop practical, tailored strategies that support meaningful and lasting change. Individual counselling allows treatment to be adapted to your specific circumstances, goals, and stage of recovery, ensuring care that is responsive to your needs.

A key focus of our approach is the integrated treatment of addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. Many individuals experience concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, or burnout alongside substance use. Our clinicians utilise evidence-based psychological approaches to address these issues together rather than in isolation, helping you build healthier coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, and strengthen overall wellbeing. By taking a holistic view of your mental health, lifestyle, and environment, we aim to support long-term stability and improved quality of life.

As part of the assessment and treatment process, the AACE Metrix program also offers a comprehensive Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) clinical assessment conducted by our Clinical Nurse. This detailed evaluation helps to understand the extent and patterns of substance use, relevant medical and psychological factors, and any associated risks or impacts. The assessment forms the foundation for personalised treatment planning, ensuring recommendations and interventions are clinically informed and appropriate for your individual situation. Together, these services support a structured, compassionate pathway toward recovery and ongoing wellbeing.
