New Year, New Name
We trust that you have all had a fabulous start to 2025. For our team the new year is bringing about some exciting changes. First and foremost a name change from the Matrix Program to AACE Metrix, which will encompass the broad range of Addiction service we offer.
The Matrix Program® at Ashcliffe Psychology was introduced in 2018 by Directors Michael Tunnecliffe and Kerryn Ashford-Hatherly after completing advanced training in the Matrix Model in the United States. Recognising a need for an intensive addiction treatment program in Perth, Western Australia, the program was tailored to meet the needs of local participants.
What is AACE Metrix, and How Does It Relate to the Matrix Program®?
Over time, the program has evolved significantly to better support participants’ recovery journeys. Ashcliffe Psychology adopts a client-centered, eclectic approach, integrating evidence-based treatments and psychological assessments to enhance outcomes. As a result, the program has grown beyond its origins in the Matrix Model and no longer aligns with the original structure.
The transition to AACE Metrix reflects this evolution. AACE stands for Ashcliffe Addiction Counselling and Education, and "Metrix" highlights the program’s focus on metrics-driven insights and evidence-based methodologies. The program incorporates comprehensive psychological assessments, mood tracking, and individualised recovery planning to empower participants with a deeper understanding of their well-being, triggers, and progress.
AACE Metrix represents Ashcliffe Psychology’s commitment to delivering a dynamic, multifaceted addiction treatment program tailored to the needs of individuals in Perth and beyond.
The Metrix intensive group program (formerly MATRIX Program) will continue and is now able to be delivered to accomodate FIFO workers as well as Perth based clients. We also offer a Sober Curious Program; Chemsex treatment options; Support Person Information evenings; as well as Individually tailored programs. Many of our programs are now covered by Private Health Funds.
We continue to provide ongoing educational webinars, in house training and work alongside many companies to broaden the workplace knowledge about Drug and Alcohol use. In 2025 we will be extending our education and training by launching a Learning Management System.
We look forward to continuing to deliver these services (and more) to the broader West Australian community.
